The Latest Videogame To Be Adapted To Film? Why, TETRIS, Of Course!

The Wall Street Journal has exclusively reported that the classic videogame Tetris is being developed as a cinematic property, set to arrive in the near future. Unlike upcoming game-to-movie adaptations such as Assassin's Creed or The Last of Us, the source has no characters or story, but it seems the film will be scaled up from the 80's hit. "It’s a very big, epic sci-fi movie," says Larry Kesanoff, CEO of Threshold Entertainment, the company working to bring Tetris to the big screen. "This isn't a movie with a bunch of lines running around the page. We're not giving feet to the geometric shapes." He explains that the film is just "the teeny tip of an iceberg that has intergalactic significance", with potential "location-based entertainment" and more on offer... if the movie's a hit, that is. Though his vague statements appear to be leaning towards ambitious, Kesanoff was behind the Mortal Kombat cinematic adaptions, which doesn't exactly instil confidence. Still, I'm sure nobody really saw this coming, but in a time of gun-toting raccoons and yellow-skinned toys being atop the box office, anything's possible! The Tetris movie is currently without a cast, director or release date.
